At Tricky Tortoise Brewing Co., we believe in the journey—and what a journey it’s been! Set in a historic 120-year-old building that once housed a trolley car repair depot, our space is more than a brewery; it’s a community hub where the past and present merge. We’ve taken care to preserve the character of the building, from the original brick walls to the iconic model train that circles above. This space is a reflection of our values: authentic, enduring, and full of life.

Bobby Ehasz, a retired U.S. Air Force officer and visionary behind Tricky Tortoise, spearheaded this transformation. With his hands-on approach and passion for craft beer, Bobby poured his heart into revitalizing the former Willoughby Brewing Co. His journey—from his career in the military to becoming a cornerstone of the local brewing scene—reflects the spirit of resilience and community that Tricky Tortoise embodies. Named after the family’s pet tortoises, the brewery symbolizes endurance, patience, and the slow but steady race to success.

Maria Decapite, our General Manager, ensures every aspect of your experience here runs smoothly, while Brock Yoho, our Head Brewer, brings his genius to the brewhouse, crafting exceptional beers that strike the perfect balance between tradition and innovation. Glen Layton, our Kitchen Manager with 30 years of experience, keeps the food simple yet delicious, making sure we serve up flavors that pair perfectly with our brews. Brittany Berwald, our Marketing and Events Manager, always uses her creativity to bring the fun to our atmosphere, runs our weekly ‘Tricky Trivia’, and organizes all events to exceed your expectations. And let’s not forget Josh Miller, our Talent Booking Agent and Beer Distributor, who ensures that our brews are available to you -even if you aren’t at Tricky- and carefully selects bands, DJs, and solo artists that bring the best entertainment to our venue every weekend!
